There are some markets that are not ready to convert all of their market to "online marketing" yet. For example, over 50 consumer market, many verticals are still not reliant on "online"....so a combination of old (advertising, event marketing, traditional PR, and even direct mail) and new online communication still work especially in B-2-C. In terms of B2B, nothing gives a start-up more visibility than a well-placed article in the WSJ...and that does not easily happen because of inbound marketing, blogs, or social media as stand alone vehicles. And it never has happened or will happen with just a press release.

You certainly are right that SEO and Social Media aren't enough. Unfortunately at this time, with limited skills and resources, it is the best we can do.

Moving forward, with more developed skills and resources, I look forward to expanding our marketing / outreach campaigns beyond SEO and Social Media.

Thanks for the post Lisa! Looking forward to more of your thoughts on Social Media.

Dana,

Totally agree. MassTLC is doing a lot of great things and Tech Tuesday is definitely one of them. It's also amazing to me how involved Microsoft has gotten from welcoming entrepreneurial events into their space to sponsoring DartBoston's Capitalize show; 10 years ago, I don't think anyone would have expected this.

It's a great time to be in the startup environment in Boston.

Looking forward to your entry on Social Media being all you need...it's amazing how many people who admit they don't know much about it also swear by its potential to carry a business.
